Data science, machine learning and models
Behind my data work are more than 25 years in enterprise IT, in process analysis and engineering. I build everything from data pipelines to machine learning models, and my own research covers radio signals, HF propagation and space weather.
My own models
The signal research runs on a machine learning model that I built and trained in-house, on a very large dataset.
Signal analysis and tuning
I write signal analysis and tuning software that shows what’s on the air and helps a receiver lock onto it.
Diversity reception and beamforming
Long Path, my desktop console for software-defined radios, combines two antennas to pull weak signals out of the noise and steers the pair electronically to aim at one station or null a source of interference, without moving any hardware.
Propagation and space weather
HF signals reach the far side of the world because the ionosphere, ionized by ultraviolet and X-ray light from the Sun, refracts them back toward Earth. The layer builds by day and decays by night, and geomagnetic storms driven by the solar wind can close paths within hours. I study how those changes open and close paths, and ProPulse turns that research into forecasts.

ProPulse, a real-time propagation platform that runs in the browser, is where this research goes public.
